Holidaying in the Street: The echoes of Patan

Mountains are always inviting, the hills are always welcoming, the plains are truly vibrant, but many a times in life, we are bound by the concretes. The city just does not let us go anywhere. While trekking, hiking or camping would ideally come to our minds for a recreational vacation and exploration, the city and its spaces through its concretes can also provide sufficiently to celebrate a weekend in a unique way. Kathmandu Valley is both profane and sacred. While this city seems so indifferent and is sandwiched between the ugly towers and its shrinking rivers, the city has its own unique charms to keep you awestruck, if you are…

    Visit to Sauraha

It was a cold morning in the month of Mangsir when we started our journey from Kathmandu to Sauraha. We took a tourist bus to get there and reached to our hotel in late afternoon. The weather over there was cool and welcoming. The trip has been exciting to us. For me, it was the first time I have ever been to terai and the topographical distribution left me enthralled. And for my husband, because of his photography passion, it has been an opportunity to capture the exotic beauty of Sauraha again.     After having lunch, we got to meet our tour guide. He gave a brief introduction about…

A Journey in Lower Mustang: Jomsom – Kagbeni – Muktinath

“Jomsomai bazaar maa 12 baje hawa sarara”, a famous song from the Pokahreli Band Nepathya, describes the main market place in Jomsom (2700m) – the district headquarters of Mustang. Jomsom indeed is a place to be in the mornings until noon. The street vendors are all out in the center of the city, selling their best products. Fruits and vegetables (among them the famous Mustangi apples), the classic Marpha (apple brandy), hand-made handicrafts and hundreds of other what-nots are carefully placed on the stalls, glittering on the gentle sun and fresh breeze, and waiting to be bought. Yak hearders are leading their furry animals through the main street and out of the…

Adventure of a Life Time, the Rolwaling Valley!

Rolwaling, a Himalayan Valley; lies northeast of Dolakha District and west of the Everest Khumbu Region. It is the East-West valley below the Mount Gaurishanker (7145m). The valley is surrounded by steep cliffs and giant snow peaks. Bordering with Tibet , it is an ethnic Himalayan region. Only a handful trekkers reach the valley each year. Thus it is an isolated and a culturally diverse area. The route is truly adventurous, its magnificent forests and views are among best in Nepal. We took the Kathmandu-Charikot-Singati-Gongar Khola to reach this beautiful valley. After the walk from Gongarkhola to Chet-Chet and the hike through steep steps, we arrive at Simigaon. Simigaon is situated at an altitude of 2100m and offers…

    Taplejung, The Wow Fareast!

Travelling is not just an action of moving hither and thither, it’s really being free, being into the wild and discovering yourself. This travel story is the result of the times I spent during my engineering studies, my journey to ‘the Far East-land’, TAPLEJUNG. It is famous for it’s natural resources and landscapes. Fungling Baazar  is the gateway to the Taplejung, and is the headquarter of Taplejung.  It rests on the slopes of magnificent Mahabharat Lekha (Hills) and is famous for the production of valuable herb, ‘Alaichi’ or Cardamom. I swear you will be overwhelmed by the beauty of this amazing place. Siddi Dada, Suketar are the major attractions of this area. While travelling to Siddi Dada, you pass through ‘Alaichi’ Plantations and river-streams which soothe…

    Landruk Trek

“Where Next?” Pokhara is beautiful not just because of what’s inside, but also because of all the Places surrounding Pokhara. I would recommend a place that follows few kilometres away from the center, following the Baglung Highway. If you are in Pokhara for a short period of time and can’t resist exploring around, “Trip to Landruk” is an ideal one for you. It offers you the best view of Annapurna range, sunrise and sunset, traditional Gurung culture, and on top of all that, a peace of mind, away from the city hustle bustle.  The best part about this trip; it takes only 48 hours of your life to gain a memory of a lifetime. With Mardi Himal and Ghandruk nearby, other…
